I’ve been on a mission to find all the most awesome pressure cooker recipes. Why? Because I am so in love my pressure cooker.
As someone who is always pressed for time, I’m constantly looking for ways to speed up things in the kitchen – without compromising on nutrition or our health. It can be a tricky thing but with meal planning, proper food prep, crock pots and my favorite – pressure cookers, it can be done!
Sadly pressure cookers don’t seem to appeal to many of your typical at home cooks. While you’ll find a crockpot in most people’s homes, you won’t often find a pressure cooker!
I’m here to tell you why you need a pressure cooker in your kitchen – just take a look at these benefits.
Benefits of Pressure Cooking
1. Speed
The pressure cooker knows how to cook things efficiently. In fact, it cooks food about 70% faster than your conventional cooking techniques. This means a few thing first that you don’t have to spend hours at the stove cooking away when you simply don’t have hours to cook. It also means you are using less energy which is less money spent. This one benefit alone has me sold.
2. Better Nutrition
Due to the speed that pressure cookers use you actually are able to keep more nutritional value. There have been many studies showing that the longer you cook things like vegetables the more nutrients you lose. Using a pressure cooker helps keep those water soluble vitamins and minerals from being cooked out.
3. Taste
The faster cook allows those veggies to stay crisp, the superheated steam allows the meat to stay juicy and moist. Overall you’ll also be surprised by how much flavor is saved and intensified by using the pressure cooker.
4. Versatility
You can use the pressure cooker in so many different ways. From a saucepan to a baking pan to a steamer and more. I love that I have one piece of equipment that I can use for so many different things.
5. Less Mess
One thing I love about the pressure cooker is that for many meals that take multiple pots – the pressure cooker allows you to cook it all in just one pot! This means less mess! And less mess means even less time in the kitchen as you won’t be spending forever cleaning up!
So as you can see there are many reasons to make the switch to a pressure cooker. And if those benefits aren’t enough to make you try it – then maybe one of these ten delicious recipes will. Seriously… check them out. So good.
My favorite pressure cooker: The Instant Pot
Pressure cookers have come a long way since the days of exploding kitchen gadgets. Today’s pressure cookers are super safe, easy to use, and can do a TON of things. But the pressure cooker I recommend is the Instant Pot because it comes with a stainless steel cooking pot instead of the non-stick most other pressure cookers use. Non-stick surfaces can leach toxic chemicals in your food, so for all you natural-lovin’ folks, the Instant Pot is the way to go. You can check it out here.
