Ready for an awesome homemade chest rub for children? Good! I’m excited to share this recipe with you! In fact, I’ve made a goal to not only share these recipes online, but to bridge out into the REAL world (whoa, I know) and get people learning how to make their own stuff in my own home. Why? Because it’s empowering. It’s contagious. And it’s fun.
While there are a lot of things I enjoy about blogging for a living (read more about that here)… it’s far too easy to get sucked into isolation. And that’s not really healthy, is it?
So I asked some friends to join me in this DIY homemade chest rub experience. Of course life likes to keep things interesting. One friend lost her keys and couldn’t make it to my house. Another friend lost her way and missed the fun. And far too many just couldn’t make it for various reasons. So it was a fun party of TWO. My uber talented and beautiful friend Rachel showed up with her uber cute kids. We ate some yummy food, chatted, and then got to making vapor rub.
Good friends. Good eats.
Berry Lemonade (lemon juice, a few drops of lemon essential oil, strawberries, blueberries, filtered water, and a touch of raw sugar) and Peppermint Chocolate Cookies (I used this recipe, but substituted a ripe avocado for the sour cream, left out the chocolate chips, and added 2 – 3 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil) made for a delicious real food treat:
We were able to grab a quick pic with the babes while the other kids ran around.
It’s always more fun making things with friends. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more smiling DIYers here in the coming months.

*Note: The older blend works well for adults, too. You can also double the amount of oils for a stronger “adult version” of the blend.
Directions:
In a small sauce pan, combine all ingredients except essential oils. Heat on LOW and stir continuously until fully melted. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 – 10 minutes. Stir in essential oil blend until well combined. Pour mixture in glass or metal container (do not use plastic). Let sit for 30 – 60 minutes until mixture stiffens.
*Note: For babies under 2 months, rub on spine and feet (cover feet with socks afterward). For those older than 2 months you may rub on chest.
