Recipe: Parmesan Ranch Dressing

Recipe: Parmesan Ranch Dressing

Ready for my all time favorite homemade dressing? This Parmesan ranch dressing is awesome. I mean, Parmesan, right? What more do I need to say.

I’m really not a huge salad person. Mostly because I always hated store bought dressings. In fact, for years I would suffer through store bought dressings on top of salads thinking I was doing myself a favor by eating more “healthy.” Little did I know that almost every store bought brand of salad dressing is loaded with rancid vegetable oils (many of which are GMO). Ugh. No thanks.

And just like my homemade honey mustard poppy seed dressing, this homemade Parmesan Ranch Dressing is only full of good things.  And not full of rancid PUFA grossness.

I am going to give this a shot… I hope it’s ok to leave out the salt- we have to be on a very low sodium diet in our house since my so has a heart condition.

What is your opinion on rennet used to make Parmesean and most other cheeses? Do you have any issue with the animal rennet that comes from the lining on calves’ stomachs? Is “vegetable rennet” or “microbial rennet” safe, or have these been genetically modified? I have tried to look up information on the processes of making all these different kinds of rennet, and am confused as to what the healthiest, safest, most ethical option is. Do you have any opinion on this? Thank you!

Wow, those are some great questions… I try to buy cheese from the best sources possible, but I honestly haven’t looked too much into the rennet. Something to consider for sure. I’ll look into it. Thank you!
