What I loved this October.

What I loved this October.

Happy Halloween! Another month has just flown by. I can’t believe it. Well, I can… but only because I feel this way at the end of each month.

October has been great. I’ve been spending lots of time with these two:

Helping this one practice the art of dress up:

And just generally enjoying the beautiful weather.

This month was full of fun projects. Making lip balm and homemade mascara, yummy stews, and healthy fruit snacks. October was also exciting as I launched my first ebook!

And of course I found lots of great things online.

Here are some of the things I loved this October:

I did NOT love getting sick. But I did love all of your great suggestions on my facebook wall for treating a cold naturally. I also loved reading about this cure for the common cold, this homemade vapor rub, and these natural flu remedies. And since we all know vitamin C is important when you are sick, learning about vitamin C from this article was great. And while we are on the topics of natural cures, did you know you could cure constipation naturally?

I also loved reading on various ways for raising healthy kids and teaching them the value of real food.  You should definitely check out this parent’s guide for helping kids eat healthy. I also found some peace reading this post about why it’s okay to occasionally let kids eat junk. (Perfect for the crazy mom in me.)

I’ve been more adventurous in my kitchen. I learned how to make kefir and did so for the first time. I’m excited  to learn how to make a sourdough starter. (I’ve always been a chicken and just bought a starter.)

October has also been an important month to raise awareness for prop 37 and teach people about GMOs. I loved this awesome video on how to avoid GMOs.

And then there is the food.

I always love the recipes I see floating around. Things like pumpkin fudge, apple bacon salad, a suprisingly tasty carrot dessert, and this delicious vegetable soup.

Lots and lots of good things! What has been your favorite things this month? Share in the comments.
